Oldham Roughyeds RLFC is an English professional rugby league club based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. In the 2013 season they will play in the Kingstone Press Championship 1. Oldham is one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895.
Formed in 1876 as Oldham Football Club, the club was known as Oldham Bears from the 1996 season until liquidation in 1997 and reformed under the Roughyeds name. They played from 1889 to 1997 at Watersheddings. They have won the Championship four times and the Rugby League Challenge Cup three times.
The team's traditional strip consists of red and white hooped jerseys, navy blue shorts and red socks. They play their home games at Whitebank Stadium in Limeside.
'Roughyed' is a nickname for a person from Oldham, derived from the rough felt used in the hatting industry which once employed many people.
Local rivals include Huddersfield, Rochdale Hornets, Halifax, Salford and Swinton.
